    Question watches?

ah, my wally-world el cheapo time keeper died today.

i'm hard on my watches ... they get dunked in the ocean (fishing) and battered about when my wife beats me up from time to time.

wondering what you guys are wearing ... don't need fancy bells and whistles, but durable (and a luminous dial) would be nice.

Casio G Shock, $50-60. Damn near indestructible. Much superior to Timex Ironman, that I wore for many years. If you lose the G shock, get another one.

Watches are like guns. How much do you want to spend and how much (in terms of features) do you really need?

mark - thx for the link. i didn't realize watches were discussed here.

todd - just the basics (time/date, maybe an alarm feature, luminous dial). just want something to last. i've got nicer "dress" watches (which i hardly wear). just need one for everyday tactical nosepicking. thx.

The alarm actually pushes you down the price ladder because higher-end (mechanical) watches with an alarm complication are very expensive and probably outside your intended price envelope.

I'd ditto the G-Shock recommendation. There are about twenty billion models. Check out the Casio website. Also, there are some models (some consider them the better ones) that are sold only in Japan. There's a very reputable company, SeiyaJapan.com, that exports them to U.S. customers.

There's a lot of good watch info there. A G-shok is a mandatory piece of gear. But there's some moderately priced mechanical watches out there too.

Somewhere towards the end of that thread there's a post with some watches in the 6 figure range.

yee-ikes. i was thinking more along the lines of what cold zero posted (g-shock).

some of those marathons dive watches are nice but i'd prefer to stay in the $50-$100 range for now.

    $500 watch = 3 dozen pmags.

    thanks for the feedback!

Ah yes.... It was the Hublot watches that ranged from 100-200 thousand dollars.

I would go with one of those.
