My post contains my builds to replicate my issue guns while in the Air Force. The main difference between the GAU and the XM is the GAU lacks a forward assist, though some GAUs had them. The Air Force can recycle gun parts like nobody's business.

One thing I notice from the articles is that the Air Force specifically rejected optics out of a concern that they might not hold zero through a 16-g ejection sequence from launch to landing.
Question to the crowd: Do we know of any compact optics that are good for 200yd and can take that kind of curbstomping and still be reliable?

Many are. I am really happy with Holosun 510c. I like it because it’s smaller and works for this build. There are many good ones though.

Sixteen g is tiny compared to the instantaneous acceleration produced by drops, impacts, and even recoil. Why would it be a problem?
