You might want to join TheAKForum.net to get the whole low-down.

It's not for the faint of heart if you've not done anything like it before.

Building an AK is much different than assembling an AR.

I will say that there have been others that have built AK's before the "old" core at Gunco but the folks at Gunco provided their building experience to "everyone".

This goes back to the days when you used multiple steel pieces for the frame, then the pre-bent receivers which ended up going to the flat bending by 555th. I would say that one person in particular was responsible for getting out the word/method on building the AK. And that person was "silver dollar" (from gunsnet) who left because of issues at that site. Now he's known as "7.62x39" and resides at Gunco.

I'm aware of the old blood feud between the two forums, which is why I had to pick at the scab

Regardless, the guys at saiga-12.com have done more for the Saiga community than anyone else (since this thread is about Saiga conversions, not AK building)

    :shrugs:

I don't see a fued.....I was a mod on Gunsnet for a while, I modded at Gunco too, before the implosion there.

All the sites have good people who know what they're doing.

I think we should concentrate on helping a brother out here though.
