    That is exactly why you check the clearance.

    I’ve not experienced this particular failure, but if the tolerances aren’t stacking in your favor it can and has happened.

    If the back of the key is hitting the top of the lower, there's majorly out of spec F@#kery going on.

    The back of the carrier relieving the buffer retainer/buffer face contact isn't something you should even have to think about. That's only an issue on massively effed up/out of spec garbage. I'm talking Olympic Arms levels of trash.

    I never really thought about the clearance until I installed a Law Tactical folder and it beat the crap out of the buffer with two different uppers.
    I never did get an offset retainer or make a shim for the adapter.
    Just tossed it in a drawer till I find a use for it and will deal with it later.
