The stars have aligned correctly and I now have confirmation that there are, indeed, uppers inbound to my corner of Tampa. After this six month exercise in patience (Yay, RRA! ), I've started thinking about the things that'll actually need doing to the upper. The upper as a whole will basically go from me to Grant at G&R to do whatever he can do to help mitigate it being an RRA upper (BCG staking, chamber reaming, etc.).

One of the first upgrades I had in mind was replacing the basic plastic handguards with some sort of free-floating tube. I don't have the coin to drop on the $260+ rail systems, so the carbon fiber ones look like a viable option. The ones I had in mind are Briley, Clark Custom, and Hiperform.

For those of you who have and/or have used carbon fiber handguards, what did you like about them? What didn't you like?
