I agree. They are for short range. The Gold Dot 75gn is optimal for short barrels.

I view them strictly in the PDW/SD/HD role.

According to Federal, these 62gr Fusion MSR start out at 2750 fps from a (presumably) 16" barrel and drop to 2000 fps at 275 yards.

When launched from a 7.5" barrel, they start at 2280 fps and hit 2000 fps at ~115 yards.

For these barrel lengths, 300BLK is a better cartridge, but 556 performance is no joke and quite potent for PDW use within 100 yards.
