These bullets are all great performers, but very expensive.

How many rounds are you all keeping on hand of these rounds? And do you practice with them at the range?

I might be guessing wrong, but I think many have a couple hundred of these grest rounds but don’t practice with them because they are expensive. And if you’re not practicing with them, how well do you know how they shoot in your rifle?

And if you do stack em deep, I don’t have the pockets to keep up with that

M193 spec tracks well with the 77gr TMK out to about 200 yards, IIRC.

Close enough that I would zero with TMK, then practice with 193 when I did some run N guns. Hell, I packed one mag of TMK for the longer shots and just used the 193 under 100 yards.

The 62 grain/64 grain Gold Dots are an excellent choice for a duty/self defense load. These Gold Dots are available as factory loaded ammunition in the Speer LE line and the Speer Person Protection line as well as Federal’s Fusion and Fusion MSR lines. If you’re a hand-loader, the 62 grain Gold Dot is also available as a reloading component.

The terminal ballistic properties of the 62 grain/64 grain Gold Dots approach that of the 62 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw.









As mentioned above, the 62 grain Gold Dot is available as a reloading component. When hand-loaded and fired from an AR-15 with a match-grade barrel, it can produce true match-grade accuracy/precision.








The factory loaded Speer 64 grain Gold Dot ammunition has produced some of the most consistent accuracy of any of the factory bonded soft-point loads that I’ve tested. Three 10-shot groups of the Speer LE 64 grain Gold Dots fired in a row had extreme spreads that measured:

1.11”

0.91”

1.30”

for a 10-shot average extreme spread of 1.12”! I over-layed those three groups on each other using RSI Shooting Lab to form a 30-shot composite group. The composite group had a mean radius of 0.33”.





The factory loaded ammunition using the 62 grain Gold Dot has also produced good very good accuracy/precision for a bonded soft-point fired from an AR-15.

The muzzle velocities shown in the tables below were obtained back-to-back during the same chronograph session using recent lots of all three of the Fusion/Gold Dot loads chrongographed.

10-shot groups were fired from one of my precision AR-15s with a Lothar-Walther barrel with a 223 Wylde chamber and a 1:8” twist. The groups were fired from the bench at a distance of 100 yards with the same sight settings on the scope for each of the three groups.
