    S&W Model 63 22LR

I have had a low level but constant desire to own a S&W 63 for years now. The prices of other 22s I like have gotten to the point that the cost of a 63 is not as hard to swallow, so I bought a 1980(?) Model 63 for my birthday today. No dash but no barrel pin either, my understanding is that S&W transitioned to the 63-1 and transitional revolvers are not pinned. I am looking forward to shooting it this weekend.

Nice .22LR collection. I bought the only M63 I ever saw in a LGS, used and gave it to my oldest daughter after she’d mastered her Marlin .22 single shot rifle (11 or 12 yoa at the time). The nice thing about quality firearms is, when properly cared for they will last for generations.

Make sure to keep the chambers clean. If they where cut too tight or allowed to get too, extraction can become difficult. If you have an extraction issue, be careful not to bend the rod. YMMV. Otherwise a g reat revolver, I have a dash 1 and it's one of my favorites and with a 4" 617.
