Thread revival. I just read something from the World Animal Foundation, pit bulls make up less than 6% of the the dog population but responsible for 70% of all bites.

So pit bulls are like black males?

Make up 6% of the population but commit the vast majority of violent crime.

That's a myth and mistaken identity. Those are actually American Bulldogs who get mistaken for pitbulls.

you may be right. Last time I looked, some kennel clubs don’t really recognize it as a breed in the first place. So even a “purebred” might not be seen in the statistics being reported. Where many of the ones we see in the course of our lives are mixed. It’s a poorly enough defined breed that the definitions wander and are sometimes in the eye of the beholder.

Well a year or so ago I went to the local dog pound to find a mutt and I would guess of the 50 or so dogs close to fifteen were pit mixes or straight up pits.
I've consider adopting one, there was one that looked like "Petey" from the little rascals, but I chicken out and got a small dog.
I dont need the potential headaches.
