    Geissele Aimpoint M5S Mount

So, the mount itself is fine. The Geissele screws that come with the mount are absolute dog shit. I’ve had two different sets, from Geissele, where the heads strip out at 8 in/lbs. The Aimpoint torque for the M5 mount is 12 in/lbs. The Geissele screws that come with this mount are apparently made from overcooked spaghetti noodles. I’ve now ditched this mount and gone back to the factory Aimpoint mount. Hopefully I can get a refund from Geissele.

Out of curiosity, what made you choose a Geissele over say Arisaka, Reptilia, Scalarworks, etc etc?

Not a loaded question, I'm genuinely curious as I tend to not think Geissele when it comes to red dot mounts.

I’ve had good luck with other mounts from them (M4S & PRO). I liked how small the mount was. The mount itself is fantastic. I want it to work. I suppose I could source some T10 Torx head screws that would actually work. I may look into that. I’m just really disappointed that such a nice mount is essentially unusable because of its screws.

I've also had no problems with Geissele T1 mounts and I have two.

Sorry you are having this issue.

Did your mount come with Torx head screws or the small hex head?

Well there’s the problem. The M5 comes with hex head made from spaghetti.

And therein may lie the problem. Thinking about it I'm not sure if I used the screws I took off from my two Holosun's (a HS403R and a HS503CU) mounts and used those instead supplied with the Geissele T1 mount. I like Torx better than hex head anyway. So I'm having a senior moment as I can't remember which I used.

What did Geissele say when you contacted them about the problem(s)?

Nothing. I told them the problem with the supplied screws. They sent me the exact same screws and the problem repeated itself. If they would use Torx screws this wouldn’t be an issue.
