    Steyr's new "DMR 762"

A new one from Steyr. Looks like a 13 inch barrel?

Yeah but put a 7” can on it and now you are up to 20” or so of length ahead of the bolt face.

In the battle of Mariupol most firefights were inside 50 meters from what I’ve read from the survivors.

I really want to see them get sub MOA results from a 13" barrel.

If they even get 1MOA consistently it will be impressive.

I wonder if the design is intended to eventually be chambered in 6.8x51. The 13" barrel would match up to that of the XM7.
It's f*****g great, putting holes in people, all the time, and it just puts 'em down mate, they drop like sacks of s**t when they go down with this.

Now THAT is an interesting thought. It’s virtually the same weight too.

Still though, it’s heavier than a Mk17 CQC or even a full length Bren 2 BR.

Maybe they are hedging their bets that there’s going to be a need to a European manufactured rifle in 6.8x51.

I'd bet you could get a lighter bullet (130gr, 155gr) going fast enough to buck wind out to 600 yards...

Not that looks matter, but that's an odd looking rifle.

It’s an eye of the beholder thing. Other than the stock I’m really fond of it.

Confused by the cross bolt safety. Is there some EU thing for a cross bony safety vs the more traditional type AR safety?

13” in 308 will be interesting to see what can be done. All the Steyr rifles I’ve shot that they intended to be accurate were in fact accurate. Plus they didn’t qualify sub moa at what range, so there is that.

Not sure what the target audience is for that unit. 13” isnt civilian friendly here in the US and I’m not sure what the acceptance for assault rifles is in the EU outside of military. I’m with the crowd that thinks 308 is a place holder for 6.8.
