There are a couple of threads here discussing G34/35 cutouts and potential for debris intrusion. LAV, Grant, an SME or two contributed. Probably worth finding if the topic is of interest. Those threads would be years old by now. I don't recall the conclusions, but I think it's most an issue for dirtiest & deployed mil application more than typical CCW or LE use.

As pointed out, the Gen 5 guns have a closed slide, but there are more than enough uniformed 34 and 35 users to put that worry to rest for me.

I didn’t know that, I’m still stuck in Gen 3 world, good intel.

Absolutely, but I’d rather error on the side of caution, hence Colt over PSA.

With an optic and weaponlight, they make great HD/SHTF pistols.

If you had to choose one today for HD, which one would you choose?

Another one to consider is the G45.
I have one (MOS version) and it has become my favorite handgun.

Me too. But one day I will get a Gen 3 G34 because I like the sights and easier to access slide stop. I'm confident I won't get bubble gum in the slide opening, but I've been training for it by shooting Beretta's since the 80s and those are full open slides.

    Probably would be the G47.

Could you elaborate? I’m confused by why there needs to be a 47.
