How do you show safe with an open bolt FA?

If the bolt is to the rear it’s in the firing position, but if it’s closed you can’t easily see there isn’t a magazine inserted.

    What’s the best practice?
Why do the loudest do the least?

I assume that you are talking about making it obvious that a gun cannot fire and can be left unattended, rather than something like an "unload and show clear" command, in which case, a chamber flag seems like the obvious solution.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I assume that you meant that you can't easily see that there isn't a cartridge inserted. I agree with Defaultmp3 that a chamber flag is the solution.

I'd have to agree. Anything with a feed system still attached (magazine or belt) isn't visually "Safed" if there's ammo prepped in the feedway unless obviously locked and pinned with a red "Armed," "Remove Before Flight," or "Remove Before Firing" flag -- especially if you have to walk up close to verify the position of the safety, selector switch, or lock-out block or cover.

I assumed the answer would be chamber flag, but what about in my backyard? Same?

Just wondering what the safest way to keep it on the back of the golf cart is when switching between guns.

Drop the mag and Drop the hammer should work.

We always just pulled mags, open bolt. Open chamber usually needs to cool off anyway.

If it's already cooled off, you could do a chamber flag.

I never actually put my chamber flag into the chamber, I just put it through the ejection port and into the magwell.

LOL. Been shooting open bolts since about 79 and not once did I think of that. Still learning.
