Colt 604 / 614 upper receiver assembly with 601 602 triangle charging handle, RETRO

For sale is an early version Colt model 604 or 614 upper receiver assembly. The model 614 was the commercial version of the 604, and was generally sold as a complete select fire rifle. The 604 was the first version adopted by the USAF, and featured a slick side upper with no forward assist.

If this is a 614, as a commercial AR15 rifle, Colt often sold these rifles with very early leftover parts from earlier models, like the 601 and 602. For this reason, this upper is essentially a copy of the US Air Force model 604, but with the earlier triangular charging handle instead of the later standard charging handle that is still common today. If it is an actual 604, the charging handle may have been swapped out somewhere along the way, but that is unknown. Otherwise, it is an accurate representation of an early USAF M16 with pre A1 features.

Upper has standard sized takedown and pivot pin holes, and the front is also counterbored for the early 601 style non-captive pin. Upper is compatible with all standard AR-15 lowers.

Barrel is 1/12 twist and appears to have never been fired. Strong, perfect rifling, no corrosion. Flash hider is later three prong with knurled (checkered/textured) peel washer. These were made before the birdcage flash hider as seen on the later M16A1 and Colt SP1.
