I agree but it was more disguised not blatant obscenity, but that is not my issue, I just don't consider it music.

For me, rap and early hip hop had a great sound and because I was moving in that direction with early 80s new wave like Gary Numan and Thomas Dolby it wasn't a huge crossover.
I like most music from the 40's to the present just not rap. Every generation has it's musical genre it grew up with and prefers. I grew up with 50's and 60's rock, and it is still my favorite.

The only Tupac single I can listen to is California and that is mostly due to Roger Troutman being involved.

Can't even listen to Dre and Snoop because of that nonsense and Dre is a brilliant performer / producer.
On that subject, perspective is wierd.

Back in the 80s and 90s, I HATED rap.

But nowadays, after hearing the modern stupidly repetitive auto-tune filled and noise-laden garbage that passes for that genre, and THEN listening to some old stuff from the 90s, made me think that some of that old stuff was actually not bad at all. It was raw, solid, and to-the-point. I can appreciate it now. Strange.

I like a very wide majority of music from bluegrass to jazz to hard & progressive rock...rap is noise pollution.

Seriously, I gotta leave the area.

Good old blues from Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and B.B. King. Enough.

I feel that way about hair metal and country. And neither of us will ever understand how anyone can listen to that shit.

I was a young man when I liked it. A lot of young men like rap. I really didn't like any rap that came out after the mid 90's, maybe I got older and grew out of liking rap. But in reality I think the sound changed for the worse around that time.

I was talking with somebody at work about the P Diddy thing, he seemed to think that they arrested him. I was under the impression that he left the country on his jet. Did they catch the guy or not?

I just did a deeper dive into the stuff I do like.

Have a pretty comprehensive collection 1976-95.

That looks like a nice vinyl collection. I've got a pretty decent collection myself, mostly from the 70's, some of them are great classic rock albums. I acquired them from people who were looking to get rid of their collection and also picked up a bunch on the cheap from used book stores back in the early 00's before the whole hipster thing made vinyls expensive again. It's funny, now CD's are really cheap at the used book stores. Vinyls are expensive but nobody wants CD's. There are some great albums for sale for really cheap on CD that are in great shape, no scratches.
