Another Train Derailment in Wyandotte Oklahoma

I am local, we are a very rural area. I got a message from the school that the main crossing into town was blocked by a derailed train and no one was hurt. We dont know a lot other than that. None of the local news networks, Tulsa or Joplin have picked it up yet. It is interesting though, the crossing has been redone in the last year. We had to re route to drop kids off for school this year so it was fairly recent. The school is about 200 yards from this intersection as well. Facebook has better news coverage here. This is the modern sewing circle. Lots of local gossip..

Hopefully it was just lumber and a few cars

I’m through Wyandotte twice a week commuting between work in OKC and home in SWMO. Where’s this in relation to 60, let’s says the Turtle Stop for reference?

1/4 mile south. Not very far at all.

Behind the turtle stop, on top of the hill was the old Baptist Indian School. It was closed in the early 80s. The Wyandotte tribe owns it all now, and rebuilt it into the casino and tribal centers on top of the hill.

Well there’s a creosote treatment plant that is not getting their ties, and a road master somewhere on the system that’s not going to get his order of creosoted ties in for whatever project they have planned this spring.

Luckily that is all it was. So far it is not looking like anything hazardous.
