It is the same quad-rail that was used on the CR6920-EC 14.5" P/W carbines that were released recently. It is an Arms Unlimited exclusive upper receiver conversion kit currently. I don't have an explanation as to why Colt designated it "6930". The rail is a Colt proprietary product.

Additionally, to address another question in the discussion, these upper receivers are not take-offs or otherwise related to the European CR6920-EC or CR6920-EC 14.5" P/W carbine releases.
It is the task of our generation, yours and mine. But we build and defend not for our generation alone. We defend the foundations laid down by our fathers. We build a life for generations yet unborn.

Agree, I own that Euro 14.5 and that quad rail is identical. The rest of the upper is Colt standard parts.

I only have one 14.5", at that point might as well go 16" barrel and skip the stamp.

I've got one 10.3" (6945) and a few 11.5" (6933s) and I've shot them with and without suppressors. I honestly don't notice a huge difference between my 10.3" unsuppressed and my 14.5" outdoors. Indoors, depending upon the layout of the range, they are all kind of loud without a suppressor.

The biggest difference is 4" of barrel is heavier than 4" of suppressor. Even things like a SOCCOM Mini, which are hardly the quietest thing in the world make a huge difference. The only thing 10.3 and 11.5 don't do very well is accuracy at distance, but that isn't really what they were designed for.

I recently got a 16" 6920, and it's a good gun. But I already had stamps on some lowers, and I just grew out of the impracticality of 10.3-11.5". So I put some 14.5s on them.

Impractical for what? Shooting out to 100 yards? Well sure. Home defense? That 16" barrel really doesn't make much difference at living room distance. For me the 10.3 / 11.5 ARs finally got small enough and light enough and suppressors for them finally became effective enough to fill the role of the MP5 and similar SMGs.

I could do it with a 6920, but it's a little easier with a 6945/6933 without sacrificing much.

No. It's too loud and concussive unsuppressed. And suppressors are insane on a gun that short. Too much pressure to try to tame.

Exactly. I used to be all about the 10.5. Then I was 11.5 city. Now that I've grown to hate suppressed ARs, 14.5 is the optimal length for me. I may change my mind later.

Indoors unsuppressed is pretty loud, but not nearly as loud as the shotguns some always advocate. And I actually do pretty good with suppressed 10.3 and 11.5's. Depends on the suppressor I guess. I'm still running mostly HALOs.

Were you using a muzzle brake as a QD mount I wonder?

My 10.5 set up has an insertable gas port (the old pre-BRT tube solution) to choke the gas down to sane levels when un-suppressed. I've run both brake and flash hider style mounts, and I've never noticed a difference between the two.
