No I wasn't handling the weapon, I was there with my uncle buying 12 ga shells for clays, an older man brought in what looked like a Beretta Tomcat, not sure the make and the gun store clerk was fiddling with it when it went off. We were an isle or two away, ended up hitting a few range bags on the bottom shelf. It was a few years ago after I had just gotten out of the service. It was a reminder of why they kept drilling all of the Weapons Conditions and Weapon Safety Rules at us when I was a boot.

I'm always concerned when this thread comes back the day after I visit a LGS. I don't know what it is, but I sound like a complete moron when I open my mouth at the LGS. Some here would probably wonder why I'm surprised. I think it is because I try to distill it into as short and direct of a question as possible. I know I don't know everything- and I've been more in practice than acquisition mode lately, especially getting my 10 year old spun up on bolt-gun and semi-pistol- so I know I'm out of loop on the latest handguard tech, though I feel like I'm back in high-school with the peg-board slots...
Anyway, thanks for not posting my verbal double-feeds.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.
It's that simple.
I'm absolutely with you in regards to making ends meet when it comes down to moving ammunition from inventory to someone's personal stock, generally regardless of their misguided reasons. I will however attempt to put down any panic buying that would limit our true shooters in the area from being able to have ammo for class attendance say for instance. The LGS I work at doesn't cater to the typical gun buyer and we pride ourselves on focusing more on training and providing a higher-class retail atmosphere. With that said it doesn't do well for business when I can't fill class slots since I don't have any ammo for students to shoot in class.
In heavenly love abiding, no change my heart shall fear;
and safe is such confiding, for nothing changes here:
the storm may roar without me, my heart may low be laid;
but God is round about me, and can I be dismayed?
So it was my last day at the LGS as an employee last weekend and while I'm glad to leave, I also ran into every crazy idiot that ran into my store. A guy came in with his wife and the guy at one time sold guns.
Customer: She needs a single stack 9mm semi auto with a hammer, Me: I show him a EMP by Springfield and say how its the top seller in that category. Customer: Nope to much and I want a 5 inch barrel, Me: okay here is a CZ 75B, hand it to the wife for which the firearm is meant for. Customer: NO! none of that commie shit!. Her: It feels nice. Customer: its a commie gun honey, no good. Do you have any Rock Islands? Me: I do, but only double stacked. Customer: No there probably made by PARA, and have a huge markup, Me: Para is being killed by Remington. Freedom Group Etc... Customer: Do you have any of the R51's? I hear nothing but good things. Me: Really???... No, we don't. Customer: well I'll look around. Me: Okay.

I actually have a fondness for the Model 51 and my antique handgun collection needs one. I only wish they went into full production with the Model 53.
Is the R51 a turd? I half considered getting one simply because it was a 9mm based upon the old Model 51. Never really looked into it seriously.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
Chuck, we miss ya man.

Please feel free to look into the R51, nothing more to say out of sadness because I at one time admired you SteyrAUG, but turd is putting it kindly.

I had a guy come into the store today with an M&P sport that he said he couldn't get the charging handle to work the bolt after he disassembled and reassembled it. I pull it out of the case, and I see that the bolt had been inserted backwards and the receivers closed back together. I was just impressed that he managed to close the gun back up with the bolt in the wrong way.
