Sounds like jail might be the right place for this guy. If you've seen these two violations imagine what the heck else is going on there. Of course those could be the only two things he has done wrong but I doubt it. It sounds like he at least needs a reality check kick in the seat of his pants.

Go into a local shop looking at a middie barrel. I ask if it chrome lined. The salesman says " uh... " looks down the barrel to verify and says yes. I dont think thats the best way to tell.

Not the dumbest thing, but I was in a local shop that is a "Sig Certified Dealer".

Me: Do you have any Sigs in DAK?

Salesman: .........DAK? I'm not familiar with that model.

Me: You know, the DAK trigger?

    Salesman: What is that?

Me: Their double action only models...

Salesman: Sigs are double action/single action.

    Me: Ok, Thanks.

Wouldn't have been as frustrated if they didn't have a nice sign advertising that they were a Sig Dealer.

Unless you came in with the knowledge already (like from the fleet), absolutely nothing. No offense taken: truth is truth.

Mostly. But they do (at least I did) get a green ID that said USN Active on it. So conceivable if TSHTF we could have been sent to be cannon fodder somewhere.

I was in a store last night and I really wanted to compare an M&P45, Glock 21 and a HK45. I really wanted to compare trigger pulls, so I dropped the mags out so I could rack the slide with out having to push down the slide catch with every cycle. The guy kept on putting the mags back in the guns as fast as I could set them down. Kind of a real PITA. Is there some reason that they would do this? They 'know' me by sight, so I can't think they are worried I'll walk off with a mag. I can't believe that they are worried about getting the mags mixed up?

He even said something about more work for him because he was having to put the mags back in. Was I out of line?

I usually look at 'a' gun at a time, so I've never tried to go back and forth like that.

One of the senior guys actually carries a HK, so I asked him which model and how many rounds he had thru it. He said he bought it used, but the round count doesn't matter on a pistol, so people don't keep track of it. Rifles it matters because of burning up a barrel, which I don't disagree with in principle, but sheez. Eventually I figured out his 1000 rounds a year is not going to tell me a whole lot about reliability.

Just minor things, but I walked out with out a gun.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

Manager tells me I can't dry fire the pistol. I produce a snap cap from my pocket.
Manager tells me he still can't take the trigger lock off, for "safety reasons".

My father in law and I both laugh and walk out.
When we got to the car we agree that the store's unloaded Sig sans trigger lock in addition to my loaded P220 Carry SAS, S&W Airweight and
my father in laws loaded Glock 17, 26 and Ruger LCP would definitely be thought unsafe by the store management.

We then drove to a GUN Store, bought a P220R, a case of 223 and 2 really nice holsters... LOL
I'm working my way slowly through a finance degree, but I work at a Bass Pro Shops on the weekends. I applied to work the gun counter, and listed my experience and training(meager by M4C standards, excessively trained and qualified by gunshop standards)...and I was hired in fishing.

I can however assure you that they didn't care about your loaded pistols...I carry every single day I go to work and told the management that I would be when they hired me. All I was told was, "keep it concealed and it'll never be an issue."

I wouldn't dream of asking anyone upstairs a non hunting rifle/bird gun question. Perhaps they know that most people don't know jack about guns and will readily accept bullshit, nor will they shoot enough to prove whatever BS they heard wrong. Whereas someone who is told how to catch a bull redfish and does not, may never come back.

What you were told by the manager is in fact corporate policy, however stupid it may be.

I went to the store today looking for some cheap practice ammo and they had two options. PMC Bronze at $9.95 and Brown Bear at $9.95. Both prices seemed high to me so I asked the guy at the counter why the steal cased stuff was so expensive. He told me that it was because "It's foreign."

I went to the other store (which I HATE) and got some WOLF for $7 per box.

    Does this qualify?

A guy I work wth was Army infantry for 8 years. He was looking over my shoulder while I was browsing the Gun Porn... er, AR15 pic thread here on m4c. He imparted these gems of wisdom:

Blue Force two points are the "worst slings ever."

Supressors (I never spell that damn word correctly) are federally banned, and everyone who has one is mil/LEO. All you guys are breaking the law.

He has an extra rail for an M4 at home, but it's a controlled item so he can't give it to me.

Rail panels are controlled, because they hide the true length of the barrel (what the ****?)

Aimpoints are terrible RDS. The Acog only costs $400 bucks, why wouldn't you just get one of those? They're terrible because "windage and elevation has to be set diagonally" Incorrectly mounted, and nobody set his shit straight?

"I have about 20 sets of those folding sights. I can't sell them to you, though, they are controlled."

This last one, I'm taking his word for it. Ive never been shot, I've never been in a firefight, and I tend to believe people who are OIF vets when they tell me what they have done. He was shot three times by an Ak from fifteen feet away, with a SAPI plate in, and it "knocked the wind out of him." Now, like I said, he could be completely truthful on this. BUT, from personal acounts that I have read, been told by .mil buddies... I assume it does a little more than knock the wind outta ya. I'm assuming here, and we all know what that leads to.

I did correct him about the suppressors, but it was turning into an argument, and I'd rather just leave well enough alone.
