Anyway at one point he tried to convince a few guys that his Glock 26 was illegal in the US, apparently because it's too small. I've never understood why Glock seems to attract many retarded gun myths and flat out lies.
He had his Glock models confused. The .380 ACP chambered Glocks made in Austria (including the G25) are unavailable for CIVILIAN SALES in the USA due to BATFE import restrictions. Glock could make such guns in the USA without regard to import restrictions, though I do not believe they have done so yet.

"The Glock 25 is a derivative of the Glock 19, adapted to use the .380 ACP (9x17mm Short) cartridge. The .380 models are primarily intended for markets which prohibit civilian ownership of firearms chambered in military calibers. They are not offered in the United States, due to the characteristics of the gun making it unable to pass import restrictions.[47] Due to the relatively low bolt thrust of the .380 ACP cartridge, the pistol features an unlocked breech and operates via straight blowback of the slide. This method of operation required modification of the locking surfaces on the barrel as well as a redesign of the former locking block. The standard magazine capacity of the Glock 25 is 15 rounds. The Glock 28 is a .380 ACP subcompact version of the blowback-operated Glock 25, with a standard magazine capacity of 10 rounds. The factory magazine from the Glock 25, with a capacity of 15 rounds, will also function in the Glock 28. "

However, Glock frames have been manufactured in the USA since at least 2006. As I said, Glock would be free to make & sell G25s and G28s in the USA without regard to the BATFE import restrictions for civilian sales on .380 ACP caliber models.

It is not clear from their site if they are or will be offering such models for civilian sales:

Here is the link to Glock's model chart as of today.

Dumbest thing I had told me was years ago when I was looking at getting a Springfield M1A for my father over at Sportsman's Warehouse. I asked to look at one and the salesman gets it, eyes me over, and says "Are you 21?"

Me: "No, and regardless, State law states I can purchase a rifle at 18 or older... So can I look at it?"

Salesman: "Nope, sorry, I can't let someone underage handle an assault rifle like this."

I had to then ask to speak to his supervisor to which he replied:
"Well I am going to have to see your ID since you're being difficult."

I hand over my military ID, and Driver's, just be a bitch about things. The supervisor then reiterates the salesman's words. I abruptly left.

Mine was seen not heard, at the range not the gunshop, and more serious than funny, but this thread made me think of 'stupid things that people do regarding guns'.

I live in a rural area, and the public gun range is an unsupervised site on BLM land 30 min. drive . . . after the pavement ends.
So, I arrive one day, top the berm where the benches are located, set my rifle case down and notice a group of other shooters a few benches away. Well there are three bubbas standing around their bench, which is covered with firearms and equipment, drinking a 12 pack, and half of the empties are already on the ground!
I turned and left, without having fired a single shot that day.

You guys are killing me with this crap.

Here's more for your mental image of this guy... He ate lunch at a Chinese food joint where, unfortunately, the rest of us had also decided to eat. He bowed to the waitress when she seated him and made a big show of requesting chopsticks to eat his food. You know, 'cause you have to respect the Asian culture at the $7 lunch buffet and all...

You know, this guy is actually more like 007 than Rambo now that I think about it.

    Multiple things.

I was taking my Mom shopping for her first handgun, and I insisted that it must have night sights, I got.

"Oh well you can use Glow in the Dark Nail Polish, you can even pick the color you like."

    or

"All you have to do is this" and they motion their hand like they're turning on a light. I then told them "Oh... what if you're in a parking lot? Outdoors? Driving?"

I remember I once mentioned about getting a backup pistol, and I got a look "What do you need a backup pistol for?!"

That being said, I was looking at Ruger LCP's today... $308, the price was right! But... I ordered my Upper receiver first. I told my brother on the way out "You know what's going to happen right? The same thing that happened last time, I'm going to show up to buy that in a few months and they'll either not have it in stock or the price will have changed."

My mom told me if it hadn't been for how persistent I was, she never would've bought a firearm, that no one was helpful and the majority were very disrespectful.

    Sad but true.

I have just added a name to the list of people that I want to meet before I die.

Wouldn't it be swell to see this guy in the next Magpul Dynamics video?

Not a gun shop, but I think this thread is appropriate for it. Don't really want to start a new thread for one simple "dumb thing" I heard about guns.

I was at work last night, and this guy that frequents my joint (an older fellow) with an NRA hat every Friday, and Saturday came in. So, finally the music was quiet enough I strike up a conversation about firearms. He got pretty excited as I don't think he has many people ask him about guns that know what their talking about. Anyway he was a pretty smart guy, and knew his fair share of info. But once we started talking about NYers attitudes towards guns, it opened up room for tinfoil conversation.

Anyway guess what I learned last night?

The federal government has actually contracted with ammo companies to put polymer and varnish coatings on ammo. The reason? Because it heats up and causes cases to jam in the chamber, so no one can do rapid fire. The market was intentionally flooded with this ammo because they knew that the civilian population was getting dis-enchanted and angry. So now most peoples semi auto guns are useless in America past a few slow fired rounds.

I didn't realize this, and am now glad to be so informed...

I was Glock shopping, deciding which one I wanted when a kid walks up with his dayglow splashed crotch rocket helmet and proceeds to tell me what I SHOULD get. Of course it was a .45, but he pointed to a Taurus I think, I cant remember. I explain to him I was shopping for a carry gun and wanted something smaller and larger capacity. Caliber wasn't important to me at the time and I also said that I already have a .45, a HK USP. It was then that the idiocy bomb was dropped on the clerk and myself. He said, "Oh thats a shitty gun, my buddy has one of those and it constantly jams and he cant hit shit with it. yadda yadda ect ect..."

With a blank face I look at him for a second. Then I looked at the clerk with a "Believe this tard?" look and he shrugs. I tell the clerk I might be back the next day and walk past the kid without so much as a glance in his direction.
