Official NFA Transfer Times Thread

heard today from a dealer that form 3's were heading into the 4 week timeframe and 4's were increasing by the month weekly.....if that makes sense.

Will be purchasing tomorrow which will require a form 3 and then the form 4 of course. Will post data.

I'm thinking you meant 4 months on the Form 3. If so I totally agree.

F3's take about a month.

Mine took two months for approval which it was on March 25. Still hasn't been received at the originating dealer yet. 86 days and counting. That's almost 3 months right there.

Approval & arrival are two different things. Dealers don't necessarily ship the day the F3 was approved. I know Silencer Shop, for one, will ship once they have several going to the same place to save on shipping. As long as it's there by the the time the F4 is approved.

Nothing is set in stone. Some people get approval in weeks & others it takes several months.

Valid points. I still think 3-4 week Form 3s is a severe stretch given the current NFA climate. The 41P rush and Iowa legalizing cans does nothing to expedite the process.

I'd say roughly a minimum of 3 months for the F1 & 4 months for the F4. I suspect that those times will be increasing or have already.

That is what I was thinking 4 months under normal circumstances. Given I waited 2 months after the announcement, hard to predict.

Makes sense. I'm thinking about a pistol can too. If the above is true we could easily go back to 9 month to 1 year waits.

I agree. The times are definitely getting longer. I'm sure there'll still be an anomaly here & there but it's probably safer to say 5-7 weeks.
