Remember, any .556 silencer on a 10.5" barrel will last only a third of the life of the same silencer on a 14.5" or longer barrel.

The best .556 silencers are Knight's Armament and Ops Inc.

    Depends what your criteria are.

Weight? That puts Knights in the back seat to AAC or Surefire.

Durability? KACs have a pretty good rep for that. But so does AAC and Surefire.

Fast Attach? I've heard people complain about both Surefire and KACs attachment/mount method

Price? There's really no doubt that AAC has the best bang for the buck in both their 1000 and 2000 silencers.

While I like Knights and their cans, one of my MAIN concerns with a can is point of impact shifts. This removes the OPS and KAC can from my top favorites.

It is also my understanding that POI shifts are also important to the Military and is why they look at this issue closely when selecting a can.

Still have the Gemtax to contend with now though. If the whole can needs replacing, you're stuck with the $200 plus the wait for approval all over again.

I don't know if Surefire's cores are replaceable.

Touche...I do not believe (don't know) they are.

Still makes me "feel" better knowing a company is behind the product that will be there for the long haul.
