Ok thanks for the info i will report back tomorow.
I did get the aimpoint sighted in dead center at 25 yrds and within 1/2 to 1 inch at 50 yrds with a good tight group, does this sound normal. the iron sites i got on paper at 25 and 50 i just didnt spend alot of time on the iron sites.
You should be POA/POI at 50, no offset.
It sounds like you did it backwards, but got lucky. If you had zeroed your irons first, you could have lined up the RD with your irons and then proceeded to tweak it without using the irons. Put the rear sight down when you zero your RDS so you're not trying to line up both sight systems. The POI will be where the dot is once zeroed, but trying to line up everything could be frustrating and is not productive.
Having said that, make it a priority to zero your irons the next trip to the range. If you get complacent and do not zero your irons, there might come a day when you wish you had.
Never shift your point of aim. Always aim center of the target you intend to hit. All adjustments are made with the knobs, not your aim. Follow the instructions on the knob and the manual, keeping mind the appropriate MOA scale for your sight in distance.
ETA: It seems you are already sighted in, lol.
FWIW, most prefer a 50 yard zero.

Aimpoint M4S- Because your next Aimpoint battery hasn't been made yet.
One exception to that. Close range shots (7 yards or less Head shots in particular) During our rifle qual we have a failure to stop drill at 5 yards where 2 shots are fired to com and 1 to the head. You must aim high at 5 yards by about 3 inches due to the height of the sights or optics above the bore.
