Guys,
I need opinions on this problem with a Benelli SBEII.

The picture shows the issue, which is lots of small chips in the chamfered area
of the throat of the chamber between the seat that the shell rim/belt sits in
and the actual barrel chamber. The benelli response is that some ammo can
cause these chips and because they do not represent a danger or impair
functioning they will not replace the barrel or firearm. They said that they may
polish out the chips but I am concerned that the resulting loss of material will be
detrimental and that even more surface area of the chrome lining will be lost.

I have only ever used Federal Black Cloud, Benelli's preferred ammo (I will inform
them of this) and the gun has been loaded and unloaded 3 times ever and fired
once. None of my other Benellis or Berettas have this problem. So I don't really
view their response as a satisfactory outcome. I mean brass sleeves on a
shotgun shell should not chip a steel barrel if the barrel was forged correctly no??!!

Should I escalate this and try to go after them to replace this shotgun or am I
concerned over nothing? As far as I am concerned I am just royally hacked off
that I paid $1500+ for a shotgun whose tag line is "Simply Perfection" and got a
lemon. I am waiting to get back to them based on the response here and elsewhere.
I have no qualms about pursuing legal avenues if appropriate to get my desired outcome
but don't want to take a sledgehammer to crack a walnut?

What do you guys think. Live with it?...Or Not?

Thanks,

Sloane R
