Butt Stock Screw

Hello All,
I was wondering exactly what is the purpose of the hole tapped thru my A2 buttstock screw.
I just got a buttstock extender from DPMS and their longer replacement screw doesn't have this hole. I searched the forums and couldn't find anything.

Should I be worried my replacement screw doesn't have this?
It seems odd- DPMS is a fairly reputable company- I would think they would have tapped their replacement screw.
Maybe it's length makes that a pain in the a$$.

DPMS is a fairly reputable company-

If you shoot in the rain you might get a mil spec screw. It's one of those things that you probably don't need to worry about. But I make sure all of my fixed stock guns have it.
