TAP differences?
Sorry if this is a repost guys. Search turned up nada. Other than the most obvious nickel casing, can anyone explain to me the difference between the TAP FPD (in the black box) vs the TAP in the red box. I'm assuming it some sort of LE vs civ thing similar to say Federal HST vs Hydra-Shok. Are there performance, loading differences, etc. between the 2? Thanks
EDIT: Mods if this is in the wrong forum, please move it. Wasn't sure if this should go here or in the Terminal Ballistics forum

In terms of the .223 TAP FPD and .223 TAP LE, they're basically the same product in different packaging, and with a different cartridge case (though Hornady no longer uses the "black" case for the civilian TAP).
However, be aware that the LE TAP line also includes a 5.56 75gr TAP round that is VERY different from the civilian offerings...it is a much higher velocity round with a different bullet design as well.
The HST vs Hydrashok comparison is not really a good one...HST and Hydrashok are completely different bullet designs...the civilian vs. LE TAP are pretty much the same stuff, with the one big exception (the previously mentioned 5.56 T2 TAP round) that is not part of the civilian line-up.
