    ak side folder

Hello I would like to install a side folder on my ak.

Was looking at the K-Var ak-bfs its the Bulgarian triangle with a rear block so you don't have to modify your receiver.

Has anyone used it or opinions on it .

    Thanks Scott

They're great, but it's not a simple job, it needs to be done by a smith who knows what he's doing with AK's.

    Templar,

I could easily be mistaken, but I think he's referring to this product. From how I understood it, this version is easy to install for normal stamped receivers. If he wanted this version, well, that would be a different story. There could easily be an aspect to the install that's more complicated that I realize.

Hope I'm not too far off.

    Since we're on the topic:

I need to get a few loose ends tied up on the Saiga I converted last summer. Namely I need to get it refinished and have the gas block and FSB drilled and pinned (they are only press fit currently). I am thinking of getting a side folder installed. I have a few questions:

Who would everyone recommend to do the work? Anyone in particular?

Where can I find the rear trunnion and hardware set for the stock? KVAR is out and doesn't think they will be getting any more in any time soon.

I posted a want ad in the akforum and got a response the next day. I've read though, that there are more in production overseas. In case you don't pick one up from an individual, it would seem that you won't be SOL as long as what I read was true. Good luck.

I'd highly recommend Mario at Piece of History Firearms in AZ.

He's a top shelf AK smith, and has a lot of contacts that might be able to get you your parts.
