Here's my original 1914 Spandau MG08, s/n 2846. We think it was manufactured just prior to the start of WWI. It is fully functional, transferrable, and on the C&R list. She's 102 years young and still going strong, exactly as the day she was born. All one needs to do is fill the water jacket, insert a 250 round belt of 8mm ammo, and off to the races you go. Back in the day, they sure knew how to build them with all steel and a little wood. I wonder how the plastic and aluminum MGs of today will fare a century from now.
While the weapon itself is original, the sleigh mount is a handbuilt reproduction made in Poland back in the '90s expressly for export to the US collector market.
The mounted ZF12 scope is 100% mint perfect and is pictured in Dolf Goldsmith's The Devil's Paintbrush.
