    GLOCK Modifications....????

I own 2 Colt 1911s and they've BOTH had work done, but my 2 Glocks(19 & 26) are stock except for the Novaks on my G19. Are any modifications other than sights worth it???????

Do you notice any shortcomings when shooting with your Glocks?

    Overgripping/Undergripping? Slipping in your hand?

If you shoot just fine with your current setup than I'd agree with Mace.

About the only thing I'd recommend is a Glock Factory 3.5# connector, smoothed/installed by a professional smith, and an extended slide catch (I'm lefty) but that's my preference. I've done other mods (grip reduction/stippling) but those are strictly personal preference for my small hands.

    OOPS!!

Have the standard(5.5 lb?)trigger installed after I retired. The job used the NY-Plus(about 12lbs..equal to the Smith revolvers it replaced)and I FORGOT ..I did have the extended slid-stop put in both Glocks. Sorry about that...BUT otherwise bone-stock south of the sights.

Vickers/Tango Down extended mag release -- All my Glocks have one.

Extended slide stop -- not necessary or advisable for everyone

Smooth trigger -- I prefer the smooth G17 trigger to the ridged triggers on other models like the G19.

3.5# connector -- a lot of Glock people install aftermarket (or even factory) connectors that reduce trigger pull somewhat.

NY trigger spring -- Supposed to yield a more positive reset and a more revolver-like pull when combined with the 3.5# connector.

Grip reduction -- if you need one.

Some people experience stoppages due to their style of grip and/or hand size engaging the slide stop before it's supposed to engage (empty mag).

I've chosen to do only the following with my G19:

    - Steel sights (easy, since mine came from the factory with Trijicons),

    - The smooth Glock trigger,

    - The Glock extended slide release

    - The new -1 recoil spring assembly from Glock (the new guide is made of a stronger polymer configuration for increased longevity, particularly under extended firing conditions).

I've chosen to keep everything else stock, including the 5.5 lb trigger/trigger return spring.

    Best, Jon

Can't speak for J_W777, but with an extended slide stop on Glocks, my grip sometimes causes me to bump it up and induce random slick-locks. I noticed it when I got my G34. I'd imagine it'd be hard for it to cause that problem for a lefty, and certainly not even for all right handers. I'd just recommend that one shoots the gun a lot before putting it into defensive service. It's not bad part, just that some folks may end up with unintended consequences at the wrong moment.
