Question about the "Basic AR15 cleaning" thread

Ok, one of the diagrams indicates that the takedown pins should be lubed generously. Why wouldn't light lube work here? And for the record, I have never lubed my takedown pins before. Is it something that I really should start doing or doesn't it make much difference?

I did not see where the take down pin needs to be lubed heavily. Generally, you just need to put a drop of oil in the channel where the detent rides.

This one right here. I guess lubing the channels makes sense, but I still wonder why it says to use generous lube.

Don't know what the "G" stands for as I really have not read the thread. A simple bead of oil will be just fine.

Yes, that's what the thread indicates.

I put together these lube diagrams after seeing numerous questions on TOS regarding the “where’s and how’s” of lubing the AR15.

The lube quantities and information on lube points that I used, come directly from military the -10 Operators manual.

Thanks Quib, do you think it's really necessary to put any lube there?
