Guns you just HAD to have?

I'm just posting this out of curiousity. I'm fairly certain I'm not unique in having bought or at least wanted a gun not because of any practical need for it but just because I just plain wanted it - mainly because I thought it was cool or would be fun to have.

My first such purchase was my Walther P99 AS - and it will likely soon be joined by a Jericho 941 9mm full-size.

So, what guns have you guys bought just for the heck of it?

I'm most interested in the really oddball stuff - like, for example, I want an Armscor 1911 as well. Yes, there are decent 1911s from Springfield Armory and other manufacturers for almost as cheap but I grew up in the Philippines so naturally, I'd like a Philippine-made 1911 - as long as it doesn't blow up in my hands .

I thought this would be a fun question to ask all you experienced guys on this board as a break from the more serious stuff.

In 1985 I just had to have a HK P7M8. I paid $459 for one NIB w/ 5 magazines. Still have it.

M1917. They are really ugly but I like the history behind them... I see Springfields more often but they have never done anything for me.

Colt Python. I bought one new in 1987 or so and then traded it. It's the one gun I truly regret trading.

    CZ 75, pre-B model

The first one was a Beretta 92FS Stainless. I just had to have that gun.

Plus one for the Walther P99 9mm AS! I assume we all watched Casino Royale too many times?

I like the story behind my P99. I decided I wanted one (before Quantum of Solace came out) and went on a search for one. But no one locally had one. The only guy that did, had one for $850!!!! No thanks! It seemed that it was just not going to happen. So after a month or two of searching high and low I gave up. Two weeks later I find a gently used one for $550, Picked it up!

It's a great little pistol and very easy to shoot.

ALL OF THEM...and I have miles to go before I sleep.

The "practical" aside my most recent "must haves" were a Colt 1903 and a Mitchell Arms Stainless Luger.

The P7 was one of those must haves for me as well. Picked up one of the trade ins from CDNN last year but sadly I didn't fall in love with it. I sold it shortly after.....now I kinda want one again
