Hey everyone. I have a Mossberg 590. I went hunting with it a few days ago and my shotgun got rained on. I took it home and stripped it down for cleaning and so that it could dry out. I put it back together tonight and now my action lock will not function. The action lock lever would normally stay down (not depressed) while the gun is on safe, and it would lock the pump from being racked back. Now, with the weapon on safe, I can cycle the action without pressing the action lock lever. At first I thought it was the trigger group, but upon examination, everything seemed okay with it. Just to be sure, I took the trigger group out of my Mossberg 500 (which is the same trigger group as a 590) that I knew functioned properly, and put it in the 590. Same problem. So basically, my action lock lever is completely non functioning. Anybody know what the trouble may be. My only guess is that it may be related to the safety switch. Any thoughts? I really want to get this fixed because it bugs me.
