    m855 load data

    Does anybody have some reload load data for 5.56 M855 or SS109? Thanks in advance.

    I was curious, too. Found the below online, don't know if it's accurate:

    Cartridge, 5.56mm, Ball, M855

    Use:
    Machine Gun, 5.56mm, M249E1

    Rifle M16A2. The cartridge is designed for use against personnel and unarmored targets.

    Description:
    BALL. the cartridge is identified by a green bullet tip.

    Projectile Weight - 62 grains
    Chamber Pressure - 55,000 psi
    Velocity - 3025 fps, 15 feet from muzzle
    Weight - 190 grains
    Length - 2.26inches
    Primer - Percussion (Crimped into case)
    Propellant - WC 844
    Charge - 26.1 grains

    For canister powders, most use H335, Varget, or BLC2 and use 69gr data to work up.

    WC 844 is approximately the same as H 335 (supposedly the same "powder" but not in canister grade so you get lots of variation from lot to lot).

    Start around 24 gr H335 and work up from there.

    I bought a bunch of WC 844T (tracer variant) and have been loading with that using approx H335 data (start on low end of H335 and work up) and have been using around 25 gr with both 55gr and 62 gr bullets.

    I do not have a chrony, but using IMR4895 and AA2230 I have loaded some accurate M855 clones. They are in the 24gr neighborhood.
