I'm very impressed so far with the new QDC cans, but I'm not convinced the CQB 762 is hearing safe with supers. The full size 762 QDC shooting subs in 300 Blackout is very quiet though.
Thanks. Marvin does great work.
"Hearning safe," assuming we aren't referring to a govt or industry standard is a bit subjective. For example, I consider my 5.56 rifles (including SBRs 11.5") with a legacy SF suppressor to be "hearing safe" and I do not generally wear ear pro when shooting the combination outdoors. However, I do not consider the same combo to be hearing safe indoors and where ear pro.
I have only fired the LMT 762 w/ 13.5" barrel and MAMS adapter with the 762 QDC CQB suppressor indoors. I do not consider it hearing safe, but it's much better with the KAC CQB on. The current configuration makes a very compact, accurate package. I'm pleased with the result.
Outdoors may be different. I suspect it's right on the edge. I'm looking forward to trying it out, but I'm skeptical. The 762 QDC CQB may be hearing safe with a 16 or 18" barrel. I also run a SF 762SS (reflex mount) on 16" barrels and I do consider it hearing safe for 762 supers outdoors.
I think Tom probably has more experience with the 762 KAC QDCs, especially outdoors.
