Off topic question, but lots of KAC knowledge in here, so thought it would be appropriate to ask.

I am looking at a used SR15 Mod 1 upper locally which is currently wearing an AAC flash hider which the seller indicates he installed himself, but he hasn't given any indication whether he used a Knights Stick or not. Assuming he did not use the Stick and just placed the whole upper on a normal vice block, is there a way to visually check for any damage to the barrel extension?

Can you please explain to me why you think it would be damaged? Ive put on probably close to 5000 muzzle device's with a armorers vise and have had zero issues.

I have read in numerous places that the barrel alignment pin and upper receiver can be damaged when installing muzzle devices in that fashion.

Im not saying this or the reaction rod are not great tools. But in MY personal experience i have never seen this happen. Most average people that install things themselves never properly torque or rock set /loctite them. So i think you are ok purchasing it.

Interesting. Thanks for the insight. My concern would actually be that the average bubba who doesn't bother with a torque wrench (but has a 12" adjustable wrench) will just go at it like a gorilla and overtorque stuff to death (like most mechanics do on lug nuts during a tire rotation).

No pics, but have an M5 RAS set aside for a future M16A4 clone build that I'm working on trying to build up the Accessory Kit for, and several panels that I'm working toward reassembling M4 Accessory Kits from while I try to figure out something that'll give an M4 RAS-ish look on a Midlength FSP upper.

I very seriously doubt you are going to have issue with it, I would be more interested in the price personally, as well as how much wear is on it.

Good to know. Price is too high for sure. He's asking new retail pricing on a Mod 2 rifle for a used Mod 1 rifle missing the original flash hider and all the original accessories (mags, case, paperwork, etc) and also missing the SOPMOD stock. There's a reason he's had it listed at the same price on our local forum for 3 months now with no bites. I think he'll come around sooner or later though. He's emailed me twice with counter offers but I'm holding firm for now. I already have two other KAC uppers and I'm not a collector like some people here. I need to get my NFA collection growing before I start getting redundant uppers.

Good luck. The KAC Mid Lengths are long gone unless you get a URX.

Its sad because they were neat.

I have my Carbine Length and it's the bomb.

KAC collecting is fun but pretty heartbreaking if you wanna do those mid to late 00's builds
