Question Rock River Arms .458 Socom

    Greetings,

I was interested in using RRA AR's for hunting Russian Boar. Alledgedly, the .308 does not have enough stopping power. Their is nothing between the .308 and the .458 Socom. Has anyone fired the .458 and if so, is the recoil manageable ?

The 458 SOCOM in an AR15 feels about like a 3" 20ga slug from an 870, maybe a little lighter if you choose the H3 or 9mm X buffer.

How about a 338 Federal? About like a 7mm Rem Mag...

I would think .308 would be more than enough for Russian boar. People take black bear with them all the time.

My Grandpa's boar gun was a Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 mag. He actually went through a phase hunting them with a .41 mag too. Most of them were taken with head shots (sometimes multiple). He has killed alot of feral Russian Boars.

His first boar was taken with a .243 Winchester

I'm sure a .308 will do the job with good bullet placement.
