How much would you pay for a brand new Colt 6920

    Hey all,

I am new to the forums and to AR-15s (and guns in general). I got myself a Bushmaster M4A3 type AR15 for xmas but now that I have done some research I would like to get a Colt 6920 to. My Bushmaster is a 6.8 so I wanted a .223 to go along with it. I have no clue how to build the guns piece by piece like you all do so I want a ready made AR15 in .223.

I have decided on the 6920 and would like too know what you think a fair price is for one brand new. I think I got screwed buying one last week (my BM) for $1,399. I did buy a Aimpoint CompML3 2MOA to add to the gun for $499 and I think that was a fair price. Anyway, if I walk into a gun store what should I expect to pay for a new 6920? More importantly, what would you pay for one.
Would you buy one from one of these dealers online? I see some for $1,299.

If I learn how to post pics I will show you my new rifle. OK, I posted it below!

    $1,200 is a fair price.

Take the charging handle off your BM, and mount the Aimpoint direct to the rail with a Larue mount.

    good luck.

Thanks for a quick reply. Yeah I have to take the care handle off to mount the Aimpoint. I had to buy a mounting kit for $109. Pic below. The mount has a quick release and a feature so you can't overtighten the screw.

    Marc,

I don't know how new you are to firearms/accessories. When it comes to optics, I always choose to buy used. A quality optic is good to go and if there are any major issues a reputable manufactur will take of it. If possible, I would get return ML3 in favor of C3 - same switching mechanism, just not as water proof and cheaper.
The mount you got is OK. It's the Aimpoint's QRP mount. However, 100 is paying MSRP. They can be had for about $60 in pristine condition and 30-40 used if you look around. If you are spending 100, I would add an extra 20 and get a Larue or ADM Aimpoint mount.
I would highly recommend checking the equipment exchange here and on AR15.com.
In my experience, gun stores are usually only good for guns. All accessories are usually much cheaper to get online.

$1000-1200 is fair in this market.

Welcome to the forum and read, read, read.

Also look at the BCM rifles from Grant at G&R. I would go for the BCM middy but that's just me.

Should be able to find one for $1150-1250 in the current market. May have to go to a gun show or larger venue to work your best price. Good luck!

You can buy a new Colt 6920 for $1125 from Code 4 Sales.

Before ditching your Bushmaster, though, I suggest you read the following thread first:

Thank you to everyone who responded. It looks like $1200 range as what I should look for. I guess I paid way too much for the cheaper BM. Oh well, I plan to keep both and will field strip the BM tonight.

If it helps, I bought one in November for $1199. The prices of come down quite a bit and I wouldn't pay over $1225 for new one.
