    M&P Thumb Safety Removal?

    Hey guys,

Is it possible/will the gun be just as reliable if I remove my thumb safety from my M&P? Are there parts that I need to order?

    Thanks,
    B

I'm told you can simply remove it, the only function it has is blocking the trigger bar.

You will have notches left exposed in the frame though. It was rumored that SW had plugs available but that seem not the be the case. I suspect an enterprising individual can put some form of epoxy or other like material in the notch and have it match pretty close. The notch would not drive me crazy personally since the pistol has a large frame to slide gap anyway....

There is a thread on mp-pistol where a fella removed the right side thumb level to allow a lasergrip install, it has several photos of the safety lever removal.

Trade it with someone like me, who bought an M&P compact back when S&W swore they would never offer a version with a thumb safety.
