Not sure if new KAC 11.5 is overgassed?

So I went out and shot my new KAC 11.5” today. I put about 250 rounds or so of American Eagle 223 through the gun. About 80-90% of the brass ejected at the 3:00 position, a few went 2:00, and some were at 4:00. And flew about 7-8 feet away. Is my gun overgassed? This is with 223 caliber, I’d imagine the problem would be exacerbated with regular 5.56. Is this going to be an issue over time? Is this typical for 11.5” barrels? I am using Vltor A5 A5H2 buffer weight.

Other than this, my gun is functioning perfectly.

Let me guess....you're using that stupid ejection port chart?

    You answered your own question.

If 556 causes issues, there are a lot of people who can help, but ejection pattern is not an issue in and of itself.

I’m not too experienced with ARs yet, so if this is indeed the case, then I am very happy. Would anyone recommend I go up to the A5H3?

Going off a MAC video. If the brass is falling 7 to 8 feet away I don't think it's overgassed

He had a video where brass was being ejected about 20 feet away and they said that was def overgas. They adjusted the gas and it was about 7 to 10 feet and said it was good.

Others with more exp will comment.

It was definitely not further than 10 feet. I eyeballed it to approximately the same length as the height of a very tall person, roughly 7 - 9 feet.

    Good to know! Thank you!

As a final note, does anyone recommend this combo to have on my KAC 11.5? Does the "rail-lock" mounting of the x300 light work with picatinny rails? or is the T-Slot mount a must for picatinny?

People have been mounting Surefire X series lights on picatinny rails for a long time now.

On amazon, they have the "Rail-Lock" mounting or the T-Slot mounting. Only the T-Slot descriptions says it will work with picatinny on a rifle. No mention of that on the Rail-Lock, so I wanna make sure before I buy. The rail-lock is quite a bit cheaper.

No idea about the rail lock, but I think even the Universal adapter worked with my rail sections.

I bought the pressure tap switch from amazon and the x300 ultra with the t-slot from optics planet. Supposedly, the t-slot is more secure for picatinny rails, assuming you dont need to move it from weapon to weapon.
