Actually up here the DDM4 uppers are $900+ just like the Colt 6940 Uppers $900+. Both are better than the other two you listed. Here are just a couple sites I googled in 10 seconds. Doesnt mean everywhere they are that much but even locally they are like $900.

For $650 thats a steal for the DDM4. I own one myself. Great guns. The quality side by side and the features they offer surpass the other two you listed. I wouldnt even look at those other two if I was a new buyer. Also the inspection process the DDM4 goes through before being put out on the market is really top notch.

I have owned Colts, Bushmaster, and now Daniel Defense AR15s... My first Colt was bought in 1996. First Bushmaster was 2007. First Daniel Defense 2010.

Daniel Defense and BCM are both top notch companies.

The best bang for the buck is #1, the DD upper with Omega 12.0 FSP rail. You have to make sure that's exactly what you want though because any work done on the upper (i.e. swapping out the rail) will require a proprietary barrel nut wrench. You also mentioned replacing the front sight base with a fold down sight. Yes, that can be accomplished but you will have to replace with a FSB with an integrated flip down sight... like the ARMS Silhouette or PRI. You cannot just remove the front sight base and replace with a flip down sight that clamps onto the rail because the gas system will not operate properly. Again, you will need the proper tools for the install.

So if you want/need all that rail space, I say go for #1.

Otherwise go with #3. BCM is top notch, I own several BCM uppers and they're awesome.

    Good luck with your build.
