I will probably take it the shooting range in the next couple of weeks and put a few down range. The winter has seen a couple of other rifles come home and they need to get a little range time too.( 1930 Mosin hex receiver, 1944 Mosin carbine, 1943 Garand, and a 1903 Remington. Wife said she wants to go and try them out too.(I'm guessing it won't be but one time though once that recoil gets a hold of her)

That is a Kit gun... It was a surplus demilled parts kit from a South American FAL machinegun that was built onto a new production semi auto Imbel FAL receiver imported by Ravinder at PAC…

And a steal at $650. Would cost you twice as much to get it done today. I was worried it was going to be a Century Arms Imbel build.

I forgot to give an update on the final price and goodies given at final purchase. the dealer knocked another $50 off...included 2 boxes of 308 China Sports ammo..and gave me a leather rifle case(used, but in like new shape). Total price, tax and all was $600. including the $10. background check. Thanks again to all who have responded to my posts!!! P.S. is the ammo good stuff? I know the AK stuff shoots good but I have no experience with the 308.

Do NOT put that crap ammo in your very nice rifle. Sell the ammo and go buy mags.

Aim Surplus has German and South African .308 battlepacks for good prices.

    VERY good score!

I would have been all over that.

Regarding the ammo, you're definitely good to go w/ the China Sports. Use it for fam fire and get a few SA battlepacks from there on out. You may require a gas adjustment between the two for optimal operation. In my experience only underpowered Radway Green linked 7.62 was weak enough to cause problems, with Austrailian ADI and SA being close enough.

You're definitely not going to hurt it.

Again, congrats and go have some fun with it...

Nice find. $650 is a really good price for that. It looks like it was built on a Imbel parts kit that was reparked or an STG58 parts kit (maybe).

Regardless, you couldn't buy an FAL or build and FAL for that price.

    Lucky bastard.

    Talking Brazilian FN-FAL

Finally got a chance to shoot it Saturday. Couple of surprises...less recoil than expected and very accurate between 50 -75 yards.(didn't get a chance to shoot at a longer distance as it started raining). Another shooter had one of those little spinning target things for 22's and such and told me to have at it. Well....after about 7 shots the little spinning thing didn't spin anymore.(non-existent status). The rifle is a real dream to shoot. Just ordered Some South African ammo and some British Radway Green NATO ammo. Now need to order some metric mags.
