Fixing two years worth of boondoggle... Had a nice 17rtfII that was quite modified 19 chop and stippled. Sold for a sig traded for a gen 3 G22 traded for a Taurus 1911... And finally this spring got rid of the others and got the gen 4 17... Never gonna be without a glock again

Yep, on both sides of the slide. Serves a couple of purposes, mostly for safety. I used to shoot night/low light matches, the tape makes it easier for the RO to see the gun - I have some tape on one of my ARs for the same reason. Another is that it's easier to ID my glock if I'm shooting with other folks and there are a ton of glocks on the table. I'm not high speed enough to say it's for IFF purposes during undercover use, but I'm sure others may have used that as a primary reason.
The glint tapes are cheap on Amazon, they're like $3 and appear weather proof. I applied them to my other Glocks as well.
