I use Rustoleum and Aervoe on my painted AR's. I've learned that if I prep my AR properly that the Rustoelum/Aervoe works very well. Sure I get some areas that get nicked and chipped from getting knocked around, but it generally holds well.
If you like the Aervoe, I usually find it at DSG Arms on sale, and will pick up certain colors.
I'm not crazy about their OD green. It really is Olive Drab, old school. I usually use their Coyote, Light Coyote and Desert Sand. Here's a color chart of all their colors.

I chose to go this route because it's a lot easier than the other paints/methods and I understand that it's going to wear and chip. That's doesn't bother me because a quick touch up and you're GTG.

Yea, but I would put Aluma-hyde ahead of Aerove, Rusto/Krylon if done right. I like and use Aerove myself, very matte color selection.

Aervoe is quite durable but for me it seemed to take longer than I'm used to for spray paints to reach a full cure - almost two weeks (70 degrees, 50-70% humidity)

Also, being a flat paint if you spray it too far away from the work it will accumulate almost as a heavy dust and will develop texture. It's not just aervoe, other flat spray paints do this too. Do some practice varying your spray distance and see what you get. I prefer to spray a little closer to the work, applying each coat until the surface *just* looks wet. It will still dry flat and non-glossy.

I used book of pat technique as outlined over on lightfighter.net. I used a base of sand (977). Camo net with woodland green (990). Camo net coyote (1076). Camo net field drab (968). Then Camo net again with sand instead of blending it as outlined in Pats instructions. I'm not sure if the field drab and coyote are both needed as they are very close in color, but it turned out just fine. I wanted more brown and tans than greens.
