    How to remove castle nut

How do you remove a castle nut that has been stalked?

Get a high quality armorer's wrench and bear down on it. As long as you don't have anything like an ASAP blocking you it's not that difficult. Just slow, steady pressure with a good wrench and it should break free. Good luck.

I use a DPMS wrench with the rifle in a mag block, make sure it's engaged fully and tap it with a hammer.

Also, you can take a small punch and force much of the staking back out of the slot before unscrewing the castle nut.

A small diameter drill works also. Just drill through the staked metal and not the tube!
