Yes nice clean forgings, makes machining and anodizing easier.

+1 my BA DD upper is absolutely perfect looking to me but my upper with the keyhole (cerro) is fine but on the right side of the charging handle slot it extends to far. Thats probably whoever machined it though and in this case i dont know who it woulda been.

There are also the ones that don't have any markings, like my 14.5" LMt upper. It does have some tiny defects, not machining related but forging related I guess... like some residue left an imprint when the forging was done.
    It's a non-issue really.

"A" or kind of "A" shape cut in half forge mark on right side of upper

Keyhole forge mark on right side of upper

M on the front of the upper above the gas tube hole(was told it was an "FN contract upper)

Makers of Rock River Arms uppers (no markings, previous to the RRA marked uppers)

Please feel free to add any not listed above.
Anyone have any info or links on this? I have an upper marked like this, M over the gas tube hole and no other forge marks anywhere on it. No M4 feed ramps. No issues with it, but since it's on my favorite go-to carbine I'd like to know more about it.

What about a square shaped symbol? Supposedly Daniel Defense is not using the Cerro any more....

I have an upper that is supposedly Colt mfg. It has the Diemaco stylized "D" next to an split "A" (Anchor Harvey) but no "C" anywhere.

The bolt carrier has the Diemaco stylized "D" with a large "C" above it.

Is the upper really a Colt?
