Sling, Small Arms "Soft Weave" 1005-01-083-8113 / part number 11833432 / Adopted 1979

The USMC was extremely unhappy with the silent slings due to their training of traditional slung shooting. Once the supply of the old M1 slings ran dry the USMC began issuing this sling. It is just like the old M1 sling only it uses a mix of modern synthetic materials to soften the weave so it won't slip in the keepers. All the while being an excellent sling for slung up shooting. This is still current USMC issue for Riflemen. The specification states green. But they can be found in white or black for commercial purchase from the same makers that produce the millitary item. These slings are 51 and 3/4 inches long.
I use the old M1/M14 OD web slings on my retro ARs. All but one are nylon. My 602 clone has a correct cotton web sling. I have one retro of sort (my A2) with the black silent sling. I still need to get a few more OD nylon web slings. I have a few retro ARs without one right now. What-A-Country usually has them at a good price and varying degrees of use. They are anywhere from OD to a brownish-green color.

thanks man , it only had that selector in it as it's part of the bfs trigger. it also usually wears a different upper , i just threw my commando upper on it to take to the range with the bfs trigger to see how it ran , she did good

here's a pic of how it's normally set up.

Elias was full of shit. Elias was a crusader. Now, I got no fight with any man who does what he's told, but when he don't, the machine breaks down. And when the machine breaks down, we break down. And I ain't gonna allow that in any of you. Not one.

There is no "short barreled 653," Menusar is a kiddy blaster.

I robbed the HGs off my Commando for my Barnes clone above... now I desperately need to find some more. Seems like a couple months ago I watched a set come and go for $65 on TOS, now that I need them, I'm seeing auctions actually close at $120...
