My 2 cents on the FN scar

Enjoying some needed time off at my retirement property in Montana, and had some time between thunderstorms to launch some lead downrange from my new scar. My overall thoughts, really, really, nice carbine. There are a few minor things I'd like to change. Not a fan of the A2 grip, and wish the forend was a tad longer. But it runs like crazy, zero malfunctions. Accuracy not bad, once I zero'd the irons, I fired the following group off a backpack at 50 yds...

This was with 55 grn ball. A tad more gun porn for you perverts like me...

I think the Magpul AFG rocks on this gun..

Couple things I noticed, the trigger reset seems a tad longer than the AR. Couple times during rapid fire strings I didnt let the trigger out enough, and thought I had a failure to fire. Will take some getting used to. Next up will be to pick up another Aimpoint T1 for it. So far, I'm really liking this rifle.

Probably going to run a T1 on it. I have one already on a Larue mount for my duty carbine at work, hard to beat optic for a rifle like this.

Re grip: I've fitted both TD grip and MIAD on my SCAR. Didn't like how TD came out; felt I took too much of material. Really liked MIAD with small backstrap: first, it was easier to fit; second, it positions my hand better to operate safety.

Re short forend: I put a long forend plastic cover panel on 9 o'clock rail where my support hand goes to; instantaneous real estate for hand placement but doesn't help with mounting accesories if you want to mount them on that rail.

I have seen on another forum I hang out on about fitting a MIAD onto the scar, but I'm still trying to get the nerve to file off plastic under the issue grip. 2 of my other Ar's I run a 12 in. DD omega rail, so the fore end of the FN feels short to me. Another issue to figure out is what type and location of a light. I'm toying with the idea of running a mini scout light on the 3 o'clock rail(I shoot lefty)and mounting a pressure pad on the top rail.

If you get a chance, I would like to see some 5 and 10 round groupings.

First I had a G2 mounted on top rail via Vltor mount, light position at 10 o'clock - worked well but access to front sight button was blocked and I couldn't run it with front sight base up. I now have a scout light on 3 o'clock rail with pressure pad positioned at the top of opposite side, just under top rail, using LaRue clips http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetac...ail.bok?no=386 - so far so good.
