    Up = tritium
    Down = regular sight post
    I gathered, but I also noticed the tritium dot was significantly higher. So what I was asking was:

    with the tritium sight down (regular sight post), you sight normally, with the POI just above the sights, but with the tritium sight up, do you put the tritium dot OVER the target (intended POI)?

    That's the only way it makes sense to me to have it be so much taller.

    This picture should help explain. This is from the 551 manual:



    There are tritium vials in the rear sight that line up with the flip-up front tritium sight.

    I'd like to post pics of my 556R but I had to send it back to Sig a month ago.

    The CH was traveling too far back and was peening the receiver.
