    M4 Rail options

I have a DD XV on the way.

    I'd like LIGHT and ergonomic.

I think the thin and round rail system by Troy is very cool, but i guess that it is a tad tough to mount stuff. I will not mount a BUNCh of stuff on it. MAYBE a light. MAYBE a laser. I do like the option of a continuous rail for more flexibility in mounting Optics.

But... I'm also looking at a DD EZ rail - they are reasonable and easy for the avg person to install, but offer a continuous profile.

How is the Troy equivalent? - about the same price.

And... how are these compared to having a Magpul setup. Magpul is ergonomic as heck.

But, in general here are some questions:

    1. What are advantages and disadvantages to free float?

    2. How do the above handle heat?

    3. How do they compare on weight?

Anyone CHANGE from the above for good reason - experience?

    Thanks.

With a free float you can have a flip up front sight (obviously, haha) that will hold zero.

There is nothing touching the barrel so the gun in theory will be more accurate.

A Magpul MOE forearm is very light and comfortable but is really not comparable to a railed forearm as far as sights and such go.

I liked my MOE forearm when i had it.

I would get a DD rail.
