For $1,450 you could build one hell of a tricked-out 870.

Or just buy your new complete 870 directly from Vang Comp with all the work, mods., and barrel work already done and ready to go right out of the box.

It always seemed to me that in Beretta/Benelli's quest for ergonomics they wound up building tank like objects with little to no benefit in ergonomics over other market offerings. Some of their latest designs include a polymer covered receiver. Why add to the bulk? I can't figure it out. They're earlier models were nice though.

In any event, being your first shotgun you would probably be better served by a pump action from Remington, Mossberg or Winchester. Easier takedown and cleaning, much more reliable and a third of the price. Outfit it the way you want and you'll be just as happy in the long run.

Can the extension be ordered separately or aftermarket?

You're getting close to 922R territory. Mag capacity of greater than five and certain other features mean that you have to have a certain number of U.S. parts to be compliant.

Not busting on you but why this over the M4? I personally don't care for Benelli's either but that Beretta is pretty horrendous looking. The M4 is a Cadillac compared to that Beretta. Maybe try an M2 Tactical instead. Benelli has a badass rebate program going on right now too.

For a first shotty have you thought about a pump? 870's are real easy to learn on.

If you're really looking at a semi I have nothing but great things to say about FN SLP's. I have one and it has ate every type of round that I've fed it. It's soft shooting and FAST.

Anyway, if you're looking for certain features please let us know and maybe we can help out.

Maturity is a wonderful thing, but sometimes you just need to toss adulthood in the dumpster and go punch a guy in a Little Caesar costume.
